- 2nd Akwa Ibom State Gov Abbe dead
The second Military Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Major General Godwin Osagie Abbe (retd) is dead at age 75.
Abbe, who was an army colonel, when he served as military governor of the state from 31 July 1988 to 5 September 1990, reportedly died in Abuja on Saturday, 21 December 2024 following a protracted ailment.
At different times Abbe also served as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence and Internal Affairs.
Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom State Gov Umo Eno has described the passing of Abbe as sad and painful, and promised to work with his family and the Nigerian Army to give him a deserving final farewell from Mother Earth.
