WAFCON 2025: Falcons book place in quarter finals

Nine times WAFCON champions, Super Falcons of Nigeria, chasing a record 10th title, yesterday squeezed through a tight Botswana defence to take the day by a lone goal in their second match in the ongoing fiesta in Morocco.

It look Chinwendu Ihezuo’s strike in the 88th minute to take Nigeria to the quarter finals of the ongoing WAFCON  showpiece, after having trounced Tunisia 3-0 in their opener days ago.

With the second win, the Super Falcons have chalked up six points and will take on Algeria on Sunday, and if they win against their opponents, Falcons will earn the maximum nine points and top their group.

Ihezuo, who came in as a substitute, proved her mettle as a force to reckon with in the team, having also scored in the match against Tunisia.
