The Akwa Ibom State Community in Lagos (AKISCOM-Lagos) has announced the appointment of a new Board of Trustees (BoT) to harness their wealth of experiences into joining forces with the executives to oversee the affairs of the organization.
The nine new BoT members, three of whom were selected from each of the three senatorial districts of Akwa Ibom State, are Chief Elijah Ifot (Chairman), Elder Daniel Umoh, and Rev Helen Imo, from Akwa Ibom Northwest (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District.
Others are: Chief Matthew Udoheyop, Elder Edoho Ukwa, and Chief E. O. Etim from Akwa Ibom Northeast (Uyo) Senatorial District; while Sir Asuquo Inuiukim (Secretary), Dr Patrick Essien, and Elder Etesin W. Essien are from Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District.
According to Dr Edet Ambang, President of AKISCOM-Lagos, while unveiling the BoT members during the Annual General Meeting of the Organisation in Lagos, the appointments were well-deserved.
Chief Ambang said that the new BOT members were expected to bring their wealth of experience and expertise to bear in advancing the organisation’s goals.
He added that they were tasked with providing strategic leadership and guidance to AKISCOM, promoting the welfare and interests of Akwa Ibom indigenes in Lagos, and fostering unity and development in the community.
Also, a release by the Public Relations Officer of AKISCOM-Lagos, Prince Linus Essien, said, “This development is seen as a significant milestone in the organisation’s history, and the new Board of Trustees is expected to provide strategic leadership and guidance to AKISCOM-Lagos.”
Meanwhile, the newly appointed Board of Trustees of AKISCOM-Lagos has expressed gratitude to the organisation for the honour and privilege bestowed upon them.
In a statement signed by Sir Asuquo Inuikim, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, the appointees acknowledged the trust placed in them and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them.
The statement appreciated the leadership of Dr. Edet Ambang and the recognition of their contributions to community service and passion for the welfare of Akwa Ibom indigenes.
The statement concluded, “Once again, we thank you for this great opportunity to serve our community. We are proud to be part of this noble organisation and pledge to work together to take AKISCOM-Lagos to greater heights.”
