The Chairman of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Uno Etim Uno, has unveiled a remarkable scorecard of achievements within his first 100 days in office.
Chief Uno Uno on Friday, January 17, unveiled his startling scorecard of achievements at exactly 100 days since he was sworn-in to office by the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno.
Addressing the press, together with stakeholders of the area at the council secretariat, Mr Uno who anchored his achievements on Gov Eno’s ARISE Agenda, listed 12 areas of tangible results across four sectors of infrastructure, education, human capacity development and security.
According to Mr Uno, his infrastructural development captures the rehabilitation of Eyulor-Oruko Road; provision of solar street lights; and re-painting of perimeter fence and offices within the secretariat.
Speaking of the education sector, Uno said he has given considerable attention by constructing three apartments each for both teachers at Government Primary School, Eyulor, and those in Government School, Oyuku Ibighi.

The project which he said was at 95 percent completion is completed with Solar lighting and portable water for the convenience of teachers.
“The new quarters will be equipped with solar lights and portable water. My dministration is making arrangements to engage part-time teachers in core subjects, especially sciences, for the soon-to-be-established JAMB Preparatory Centres” he explaianed.
Chief Uno’s administration has also prioritised human capital development and welfare of staff, having dished out political appointments to 121 indigenes, settled all outstanding financial claims of staff and other political office holders, and given financial assistance to widows.
His words, “Irrespective of political party affiliations and religious backgrounds, 121 indigenes have been appointed into different positions in the local government. The administration has also settled outstanding financial claims of staff and former political office holders. We have equally provided funds for widows of ex-service men and fallen heroes to start their own businesses.”
He submitted that having installed CCTV cameras to enhance security within the council secretariat, he then engaged youth presidents in all villages of the LGA to keep their areas secured and clean.
Mr Uno disclosed that the two major secrets of his success were: his decision to follow the governor’s directive by relocating to his domainm, and the report of the Needs Assessment Committee, which he said was submitted to him prior to his inauguration.
The chairman led newsmen for inspection of the repaired portion of Eyulor-Oruko Road, the ongoing road grading and construction of staff quarters.
Meanwhile, stakeholders inclusive of the Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Tom Efombruh; representative of the traditional institution, HH Efiong Okon Uye; Leader of Urue offong/Oruko Legislative Council, Hon. Sunday Eyoh; the Head of Service, Mr Andrew Umore; among others, lauded the chairman for his remarkable performance within 100 days in office.
