The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, is set to formally receive Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, into the ruling party on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
According to the announcement, Governor Mutfwang will be received alongside members of his cabinet, the 17 local government area chairmen in Plateau State, and the entire structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, who are all defecting to the APC.
The high-profile event is expected to attract top party leaders and stakeholders from across the country. Vice President Kashim Shettima is billed to attend, alongside several APC governors and members of the National Assembly.
Party insiders say the defection marks a major political realignment in Plateau State and is expected to significantly strengthen the APC’s foothold in the North Central region ahead of future electoral contests.
The reception ceremony will be hosted by Prof. Yilwatda in his capacity as National Chairman of the party and is expected to underscore the APC’s drive to expand its national base and consolidate internal unity.
