First Lady Remi Tinubu inaugurates A’Ibom Geriatric Centre this Saturday
Governor Umo Eno has announced that Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will officially inaugurate the State Geriatric Centre—also known as the ARISE Elderly Citizens Centre—this Saturday, 7 March 2026.
Speaking during the March edition of the Government House monthly covenant service, the governor noted that the inauguration is a highlight of the First Lady’s first official visit to the state.
Her itinerary also includes attending the grand finale of the ongoing statewide women’s sensitisation and mobilisation tour.
Located on the Arise Medical Corridor along the Uyo-Ikot Ekpene Road, the new facility is designed specifically for citizens aged 65 and above.
Governor Eno emphasised that the centre features a specialised health clinic, dedicated relaxation and social spots, integrated support services for the elderly.
Beyond the geriatric centre, Governor Eno shared several key updates regarding his administration’s developmental roadmap, namely,
Aviation: The state expects to take delivery of two new Airbus aircraft this year. Preparations are also underway at Victor Attah International Airport to commence international flight operations in April.
A brand-new jetty is being constructed in Oron to revitalise the city’s commercial status. Additionally, preliminary work has begun on the Ikot Ekpene International Market.
The governor reaffirmed the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA), warning that no defaults from Ministries, Departments, or Agencies (MDAs) would be tolerated.
The governor expressed deep gratitude for the prevailing peace in the state, calling it his administration’s “greatest asset.”
He urged citizens to resist any attempts to disrupt this harmony.
Regarding political developments, he noted that the era of “oath-taking” has been rendered obsolete by the new electoral law. He also announced that the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Congress is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, 3 March 2026, encouraging active and peaceful participation.
Earlier in the service, Pastor Umar Idris Enoch (Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 14) delivered a message entitled “El-Shaddai,” based on 2 Corinthians 9:8.
He encouraged the congregation to trust in God’s sufficiency and divine purpose, assuring that faith remains the ultimate anchor during times of uncertainty.
