Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has honoured Elder Etim Eyakenyi, husband of the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, as the State’s Man of the Year, citing his loyalty, consistency, and dedication to family life.
The Governor made the declaration during Elder Eyakenyi’s 80th birthday celebration and thanksgiving service at Insight Bible Church, Uyo, where he praised him as a model husband, father, and statesman who has steadfastly supported his wife’s career.
Governor Eno also commended his Deputy, describing her as committed, trustworthy, and supportive, noting that her loyalty and alignment with his administration’s vision have been instrumental to effective governance.
He stressed the importance of trust and unity in leadership, urging citizens to nurture lasting relationships, while congratulating Elder Eyakenyi on reaching 80 years and celebrating his life of impact.
In his remarks, Elder Eyakenyi expressed gratitude to God for His guidance and blessings, attributing his life’s achievements to divine grace, and appreciating his wife for her companionship and support.
Also speaking, Senator Akon Eyakenyi thanked God for her husband’s life and appreciated the Governor for his continued support to her family.
Delivering a sermon titled “Finishing Well and Leaving a Godly Legacy,” Pastor Sylvanus Ukafia emphasised the importance of living an impactful life and ending well, urging Christians to remain committed to service and purpose.
The event was attended by top government officials, political leaders, clergy, and other dignitaries.
