Election stakeholders June 4 2024 rose from a meeting held with the Akwa Ibom State Independence Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) with the resolution to conduct election into the Local Government Councils in the State on Saturday, 26th October, 2024.
Official statement released by AKISIEC and signed by its Chairman, Elder Aniedi Ikoiwak, says that guidelines for the election will be published on June 11 and collection of forms by registered political parties will start on July 8 at AKISIEC office, Uyo.
The Commission said that election campaigns by political parties will start on August 26, while the purchase and return of completed forms by aspirants as chairmen and councillors will start on Thursday, 5th to 9th September; and September 9 to 11 September 2024, respectively.
Verification of aspirants’ personal documents holds on September 14.
AKISIEC fixes September 18 to 20 for the time of withdrawal or replacement of candidates, while the closing of nominations for participating political parties will be by mid-day of Friday, September 20.
