Akwa Ibom revenue court enters N1.2bn judgment against oil company

 

The Akwa Ibom State Revenue Court sitting in Uyo, the state capital, and presided over by Justice Maureen-Idongesit M. Udoka, has ordered an oil servicing company operating in the state, Ardent Energy Services Ltd, to pay N1.2bn into the coffers of the state government.

The amount represents arrears of the company’s unpaid tax, and the penalty the court imposed on them.

The suit, marked No. Rue/77C/2022, was filed by the Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS), according to a statement issued by the Head, Information & Corporate Communications of AKIRS, Mr. Nsikak Esenowo.

Esenowo also said that the Revenue Court entered the judgment against the defendant on 3 July, 2025.
