Chief Benedict Ukpong, Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC), has commended Sir Victor Antai, Executive Director Projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and indeed the Commission for facilitating the reconstruction of the Okossi-Mbokpu Eyokan-Ubodung-Etebi Road.
The road project, which had been abandoned for nearly 20 years, is being revived under Antai’s leadership.
Chief Ukpong expressed his gratitude to Antai and the NDDC for their efforts in completing the project, which he said would greatly benefit the communities along the road corridor.
According to Ukpong, Raycon & Co (Nigerai) Limited, the contractor handling the project, is working diligently to meet the deadline.
The reconstruction of the road, which spans several kilometers from Okosi through Mbokpu Eyokan and Ubodung group of villages in Urueoffong/Oruko LGA to Etebi village in Esit Eket LGA, is expected to bring significant relief to the residents of the area.
“The successful completion of this project will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the lives of the people in the region”, Chief Ben Ukpong said.
A video circulating online shows parts of the road going through excavation, filling and packing.
The video also shows many of the company’s equipment heavily mobilised on site to undertake necessary construction activities.
