Youths from Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have visited the PDP State Chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, to counter a recent protest by a few individuals from Ikpe Ward 1.
The youths reiterated that the chairmanship zoning arrangement in Ini LGA has always been between Zones A and B, to promote peace since 1999.
They clarified that the zoning was not based on wards, but on the two zones: Ini Proper (Zone A) and Odoro Ikono (Zone B).
The youths stated that it is the turn of Zone A to produce the chairman, and they’re ready to support a credible candidate from any of the six wards in Ini Proper.
They challenged the legitimacy of the previous protesters, citing their poor performance in the last general elections.
The youths emphasized that the party should prioritize fairness and justice, considering track records and unit results.
Elder Aniekan Akpan, the State PDP Chairman, thanked the youths for their support and promised to study their position paper, to ensuring fairness to all.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to following Governor Umo Eno’s lead and considering candidates’ performances and unit results.
