The Akwa Ibom State High Court has declined granting an injunction against the recently selected Ahta Oro, His Eminence Edidem Ita Edet Okokon, paving the way for his presentation ceremony to hold as scheduled.
The ceremony, organized by the Council of Oro Traditional Rulers (COTR), will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:00 am at Obio Ufre Eweme in Okobo LGA.
The Ahta Elect, selected at same venue, on Saturday, July 27, was hurriedly sued by the Paramount Ruler of Udung Uko, Odidem Bassey Etim Edet.
He equally sought the leaf of the court to stop the coronation process, which always begin with the presentation ceremony.
But the Court presided over by Hon. Justice Ernest Enang, thought otherwise, declining the order, while adjourning the matter to November 11, 2024.
With the court’s decision, Ahta Oro Elect will be formally presented to the public, marking a significant process in the journey towards his coronation.
Speaking to WatchmanPost on Thursday evening, the Secretary of the Council, HH Etim Oquong, said the COTR Guidelines empower the presentation of Ahta Oro Elect not later than 28 days from the day of selection.
The COTR has invited well-meaning Oro citizens to attend the ceremony, which promises to be a momentous occasion in the annals of Oro traditional history.
