Eastern Obolo LG chairman interfaces with indigenes resident in Lagos

In practical fulfilment of his promise to run an all-inclusive and participatory template of leadership, the chairman of Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Samuel Nteogwuijah, held a town hall meeting with indigenes of Eastern Obolo residing in Lagos and environs.

The Chairman seized the opportunity to meet with his people after participating in Governor Umo Eno’s thanksgiving service in Apostolic Church Headquarter, Lagos State, over the weekend.

Rt. Hon. Nteogwuijah expressed gratitude to the Lagos residents for being good ambassadors of Eastern Obolo LGA and contributing meaningfully to their host States the Chairman expressed his gratitude to the indigenes for their commitment to being good citizens in their host state.

He assured the people that he will not renege in his promise to transform the local government area with his blueprint which was designed to drive growth and development in the local government , tag “UNIFIED AGENDA”

He said, “Let me assure and reassure you that I will not disappoint the confidence you people reposed in me. I will continue to use available resources judiciously and prudently in investing in people-inclined needs, creating employment, impacting lives and improving the physical landscape of the local government. All I need from you, irrespective of where you are, is support and prayers as we paddle the boat together to our collective destination”.

Giving highlights on his administration’s blueprint, Rt. Hon. Nteogwuijah listed some of the plans to include, engaging with investors to invest in the local government’s natural resources, implementing various projects such as construction of the Local Government Secretariat and provision of solar-powered water facilities and modern latrines, and establishment of a standard ICT center for JAMB preparation. He also hinted on plans to build a mini park with mass transit bus, and restoration of electricity in the local government area.

Speaking further, the chairman informed the people that modalities were in top gear to improve upon security of life and property by relocating the police posts to a better and comfortable place to enhance efficiency and impact; creation of initiatives to promote economic development, including the introduction of a microfinance bank to support SMEs.

On road infrastructure, he said work will commence soon on the construction of Amadaka-Ellie Road; while construction of Ikot Akpaden-Okoroete Road is going and the flag off ceremony to be anchor by the Executive Governor pastor Umo Eno PhD few weeks to come and many more shall be flagged off in no distant future.

In his parting note, Rt. Hon. Samuel Nteogwuijah, the Chairman assured the people of his commitment to all-inclusive governance and transparent leadership that shall give every indigene of the local government a sense of belonging.

“This my interface with you is not coincidental. It was my discreet and deliberate design to use one stone to kill many birds. My visit to Lagos with His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno for a Thanksgiving also offered me auspicious opportunity to meet with you. You are an integral part of my administration and your inputs count a lot in my policy decisions and my success”, he stated.

To further deepen bonds, the chairman announced that a data base will immediately be created to capture Eastern Obolo indigenes in the Diaspora as well as a website and portal to provide access to information on the local government’s activities.

Reminding the people that he was copying the Arise Agenda template,
he called on them to support Umo Eno and the Arise Agenda beyond 2027.

Responding on behalf of the Lagos residents, Community Administrative officer to the Executive Chairman of Eastern Obolo LGA and Coordinator of Eastern Obolo Indigene in Lagos, Comrade Sampson Sunday,
thanked the Executive Chairman for his concerns in having created space in his itinerary to Lagos with the governor to have an interface with them. Commending the chairman for the achievement so far recorded, he assured him of their continued support and solidarity.
