The Acting Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of EMOIMEE Host Community Development Trust, Engr Clinton Akpan, has said the Trust remains topmost in performance index, compared to other host communities development trusts across the country.
Engr Akpan said the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), had asserted this at the last Annual General Meeting of the Trust.
Speaking during the Flag-off ceremony of Mbo EMOIMEE 2025 Free Medical Workshop across the five communities of Mbo Local Government Area, Engr Akpan said that out of about 147 Trusts across the country, EMOIMEE has followed the regulatory framework to offer priority services to the people.
Flanked by Engr Asuquo Inuikim, Mbo BoT Member; Engr Udo Sunday Obot, Mkpat Enin BoT Member; Chief Ulo A. Uye, Head Management Committee, Sir Ita Ntekim, Secretary, Advisory Committee; Chief Edet E. Okon, None Exco MC Member; and Mr Innocent Edem, Member of Advisory Committee; Clinton Akpan commended Mbo Team for their vision in organising the medical outreach, describing it as a testament to the Trust’s commitment to the health priority of her people.
Also speaking at the event, the Board Member representing Mbo, Engr Asuquo Inuikim, who cited a biblical instance from Joseph, said, “God did send them to EMOIMEE to preserve life.
Dr Iniuikim highlighted EMOIMEE’s mission to prioritise healthcare, saying the workshop aims to provide medical services to the community, building on last year’s success, where 5,625 people benefited from the programme.
Sir Iniuikim noted that the workshop has already recorded significant success, with hundreds of surgeries performed in a short time.
He expressed gratitude to the Nigerian President, the Senate, and stakeholders for their support, which has enabled EMOIMEE to fulfill its mandate.
Dr Asuquo Inuikim said, “We have focused on empowering youths and women, providing scholarships, and improving social amenities and infrastructure. Specifically, Mbo EMOIMEE has provided solar lighting, empowered communities with fishing boats, awarded N400,000 worth of scholarships to 200 beneficiaries in both the 2024 and 2025 sessions
The theme of the event, “Our Health, Our Wealth,” underscores the importance of good health in human existence. Inuikim emphasized that good health is the foundation upon which human aspirations and productivity are built.
He thanked the Paramount Ruler, traditional council, stakeholders, elders, women, and youths for their support, welcoming distinguished guests to the ceremony.
Meanwhile, the Advisory Committee Member, Sir Ita Ntekim, while welcoming guests to the event, highlighted EMOIMEE’s commitment to community development.
He stated, “The workshop aims to provide quality medical care to the people of Mbo and beyond, with a unique outreach approach taking services to all five communities of Enwang, Uda, Udesi, Ebughu, and Effiat.”
Sir Ita Ntekim expressed gratitude to the medical team and volunteers, led by Global Hands Medical Foundation, and appreciated the people of Mbo for embracing the initiative.
Speaking on behalf of the Global Hands Medical Foundation, Dr Titus Antai said that the workshop is expected to bring renewed hope and healing to the people.
Giving the statistics of work done at the ongoing programme, Dr Antai said over 3,850 patients have been attended to. He said 1,212 eye issues were treated, 823 glasses issued, 50 eye surgeries successfully completed, 1,040 laboratory investigations done, together with 165 dental procedures and 150 general surgeries.
Other stakeholders who spoke at the event included the Paramount Ruler of Mbo, Ogwong Okon Asukwo Abang, represented by the village head of Abiakowo, Ebughu; HH Asuquo Antai Edubio; the Director, Mbo Primary Health Centres, Mrs Mercy Bassey, representative of the youths and the representative of people living with disabilities.
