Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the 2025 Democracy Day, hailing them as custodians of liberty and defenders of hope.
In a message posted on his official Facebook page, Senator Akpabio praised the resilient and determined spirits of Nigerians, acknowledging their roles in upholding the tenets of democracy in the country.
Godswill Akpabio also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his courageous and visionary leadership, noting that under his stewardship, Nigeria has marked 26 unbroken years of democratic governance.
Saying the milestone is a triumph not of power, but of the people, the Senate President urged Nigerians to stand together in defending democracy, deepening unity, and delivering prosperity for future generations.
He noted that democracy was not solely the responsibility of government, but a sacred duty of every Nigerian, saying, “Let us protect it. Let us perfect it. Let us pass it on, stronger than we found it.”
