Kidnapped medical doctor freed after N14m ransom

Dr. Patrick Esu, the Chief Medical Director of St. Patrick Medical Centre in Oron, has finally been released by his abductors after a harrowing three-week ordeal.

According to sources, a ransom of N14 million was paid to secure his freedom on Monday evening, May 20.

This marks the second time Dr. Esu has been kidnapped, with the first incident occurring six years ago.

ASP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the report and assured that the police are still working tirelessly to rescue other kidnap victims in the state. “Police operations are ongoing to rescue the victims unhurt”, she said.

However, a reliable source revealed that Dr. Esu’s freedom was not easy to attain.

The abductors had initially seized the boat engines of those who went to pay the ransom, demanding an additional N15 million.

They later changed their minds and released Dr. Esu.

This development brings hope to the families of other kidnap victims in the state, and the police have pledged to continue their operations to ensure the safe release of all captives.”
