Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has expressed gratitude for being named LEADERSHIP Newspaper’s Legislator of the Year 2025, saying the honour inspires him to pursue more impactful legislation and effective representation.
Speaking after receiving the award in Abuja, Kalu emphasized that nations are built and sustained by good laws, stressing the importance of people-focused legislation, grassroots-driven governance, and amplifying the voices of the voiceless in line with constitutional mandates.
Kalu noted that the recognition reflects the trust reposed in him by his constituents in Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State, as well as his broader contributions at national and international levels.
He highlighted his roles in ECOWAS Parliament, the Pan-African Parliament, and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, describing his journey from local representation to global engagement as a testament to deliberate and committed service.
He assured constituents that ongoing projects in Bende would be completed while new initiatives would be introduced to drive further development.
Aligning himself with President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda, Kalu pledged continued efforts toward infrastructural and socioeconomic growth across Nigeria, expressing appreciation to LEADERSHIP Group and Nigerians for the recognition and vowing to remain dedicated to impactful service.
