Commissioner of Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah has advised National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the Ministry of Information to create a lasting positive impact at their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA).
The commissioner gave the counsel during a meeting with the corps members on Monday, July 14, 2025.
While emphasizing the importance of striving for a legacy that will be remembered Hon Umanah encouraged them to be committed to work and endeavour to maximise their period in Akwa Ibom, promising that laurels and recognition await outstanding corp members.
“Your service year is not just for you to waste gallivanting. It’s a period for you to put in your very best in today’s digitalized information management.
“You have to think outside the box, be creative and innovative. Your achievements would go a long way in boosting your work experience and exposure which will ultimately open good doors for you in the future and the labour market”, the Commissioner said.
The commissioner also used the meeting to remind the corp members of the need to reciprocate the 300% increase of their allowances by Gov Umo Eno by giving their all to supporting his ARISE Agenda, which serves as the administration’s blueprint for governance, development and growth of the state.
He said such kind gesture is an indication of the Governor’s leadership style anchored on compassion, inclusiveness, and strategic support for the next generation.
Hon. Umanah said Akwa Ibom State has remained one of the most welcoming and safest destinations for NYSC members, with many past corp members electing to remain in the state after service year.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Akparawa James Edet admonished the corp members to be diligent and maintain a high degree of professionalism at work. He advised them to see the NYSC as a phase of life that will determine their future.
The corp members who took turns to introduce themselves and their units promised to make a lasting impact within their service year at the Ministry of Information.
