Legendary music producer Lemmy Jackson honoured

Ace producer Lemmy Jackson has described his induction into the AMAN Hall of Fame as the true hallmark of his remarkable career, saying the honour has renewed his commitment to reposition Nigeria’s creative industry. He was also decorated with the AMAN Special Icon Award by the Artist Management Association in Nigeria (AMAN) for championing Nigeria’s golden era of music revolution.

The recognition, presented by the association, formed part of AMAN’s 30-year anniversary celebrations. Jackson said the award validates the pioneering experiment he initiated years ago—fusing Afro music with a distinct African reggae flavour. What many once doubted, he noted, has now become one of the foundations inspiring the evolution of modern African sound.

He expressed deep excitement at sharing the stage with a new generation of Afrobeat stars, including Davido and other contemporary winners of the AMAN award. Standing beside them, he said, was “thought-provoking and deeply fulfilling,” adding that their achievements reflect the growth, maturity, and global influence of African music.

According to Jackson, “This award has given me fresh fire. For the past ten years, I have been painstakingly building a revolutionary sound—something that blends modern rhythm with the deep heartbeat of our traditional music. Tonight has shown me that the time has come. I am ready to bring this new wave to life, and I believe it will open a new chapter in African music.”

The ceremony also featured notable category winners. AT Amanda clinched the Fashion Designer of the Year Award, while Johnny Drille won Songwriter of the Year. Davido emerged as Male Artiste of the Year, and Tems was honoured as Female Artiste of the Year, rounding off a night dedicated to excellence and creativity across Nigeria’s entertainment sector.
