Briefing journalists in Abuja on Saturday, Apostle Nkono, who represents Akwa Ibom State on the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), commended the peaceful and transparent process that produced new national officers at Eagle Square, Abuja, on Friday, noting that the convention demonstrated the party’s capacity for internal democracy and collective decision-making.

He particularly lauded President Bola Tinubu for his role in fostering unity among party stakeholders, but stressed that the success of the convention was a collective effort involving party faithful across the country.

“What we saw at Eagle Square was a resolve by the party to remain a united and powerful front ahead of 2027 and beyond. The convention was peaceful, the process was transparent, and the outcome reflects the collective will of our great party. It has boosted our fortunes,” he declared.

Turning to political developments in Akwa Ibom State, Apostle Nkono stressed that the APC in Akwa Ibom State is working in tandem with the unity mantra echoed by President Tinubu during the event.

“Back in Akwa Ibom, the synergy between Governor Umo Eno and the President of the Senate, His Excellency Senator Godswill Akpabio, is a model for our party. They are working seamlessly together, and because of this, the Akwa Ibom APC has imbibed the spirit of unity which Mr. President insisted on in his address.

“Our party structure in the state has never been stronger; our impact is now being felt in every ward and local government.”

Apostle Nkono urged the newly elected national officers to build on the momentum of the convention, calling on all party members to remain focused on the task of party building and national development.

A National Executive Committee led by Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda was ratified via a consensus mode by delegates.
