Nigerians blast authorities over planned Brand Ambassador award on Comfort Emmanson

Nigerians have taken to social media to express their outrage over the proposed appointment of unruly IbomAir passenger, Comfort Emmanson, as a brand ambassador.

The controversy follows an interview with the Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo SAN, on Channels TV, saying the Airlines Operators of Nigeria (AON) was planning to promote her.

Netizens have been vocal in their disapproval, questioning the logic behind rewarding Emmanson’s unruly behavior with a prestigious role.

According to online reactions and comments on the Facebook link of Channels TV, many in their rather sarcastic messages vowed to disrupt normal procedures in popular airports, train stations, Aso Rock, among others so they could also be recognised as ambassadors.

They expressed concerns that such a move would set a bad precedent and undermine efforts to promote discipline and respect in the aviation industry.

It could be recalled that Comfort Emmanson who was remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos had been released yesterday, Wednesday, August 13, following an intervention by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

Keyamo had announced in a release on Wednesday morning that Ibom Airlines Limited has agreed to dropping the petitions earlier submitted against her.

He also announced that the Airlines Operators of Nigeria was also ready to withdraw their Life travel ban against the unruly passenger.
