Uno Umoekeyo Uno Esq., of the Directorate of Legal Services, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has said that the Oro people are gradually taking their rightful place as a recognized oil-bearing community in the Niger Delta region, owing to purposeful leadership and sustained empowerment of youths.
Barr. Uno made this assertion recently, while receiving an Award of Excellence in Community Service from the National and Rivers State Executives of the Oro Youth Movement (OYOM), who paid him a courtesy visit.
Speaking after receiving the award, Barr. Uno expressed profound gratitude to the leadership and members of OYOM, dedicating the honour to the Executive Director, Projects of the NDDC, Sir Victor Antai, whom he described as benevolent and brotherly in spirit.

According to him, Sir Antai has made it a core priority to ensure that Oro people, particularly youths, benefit meaningfully from their status as an oil-bearing community.
“I find happiness and fulfilment when I see the growing number of Oro people trooping into the Commission for beneficial purposes,” he said.
“This has had a direct impact on our people through employment opportunities and access to contracts, which are positively changing lives.”
Barr. Uno also extended his appreciation to the President of the Senate for appointing Sir Victor Antai and granting him the latitude to serve and empower Akwa Ibom people through his position as Executive Director, Projects, at the NDDC.
He further commended the Oro Youth Movement, describing it as the only group that can genuinely and boldly claim to be working for the wellbeing, development, peace and overall interest of Oro land without fear or favour.

In his remarks, Barr. Uno thanked the National President of OYOM, Comrade Edet Eyo, alongside members of the national executive, as well as the Rivers State President, Comrade Edet Robinson, and the entire Rivers State executive and members for the honour bestowed on him.
The award presentation, he noted, was not only a personal recognition but a motivation to continue supporting initiatives that advance the collective progress of the Oro people within the Niger Delta region.
