PDP on stretcher, grappling with membership hemorrhage – says APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying it’s “on a stretcher” due to “ongoing membership hemorrhage across the nation.”

Otoabasi E. Udo, Esq, Publicity Secretary of the APC in Akwa Ibom State, made the claim in a press statement on Wednesday.

According to Udo, PDP’s hopes of winning the 2027 governorship and other elections in Akwa Ibom State are mere “day dreaming”.

He emphasized that the party’s current condition in the state and nationwide makes it unlikely to win future elections.

The APC’s assertions come on the heels of significant defections from PDP to APC, including the entire party structure in Delta State, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the same gale of defection led by Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State.

Udo noted that all Senators, House of Representatives members, and most House of Assembly members and Local Government Council Chairpersons from Akwa Ibom State have defected to APC.

“The PDP is grappling with membership hemorrhage across the nation, leaving it on a stretcher,” Udo said.

Otobong Udo concluded that the meeting with PDP’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, was clearly a matter of planning about the party’s final burial, and called on its members to bear the situation with courage.
