Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have raided a suspected drug den in Itam, recovering substances believed to be hard drugs and dangerous weapons during the operation.

The raid, carried out yesterday, February 14, 2026, at about 11:35 a.m., took place at Ntak Inyang along the Calabar–Itu Road in Akwa Ibom State.

The operation was conducted in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, to rid the state of criminal elements and strengthen public safety.

During the raid, police arrested one suspect identified as Akin Robert, a male indigene of Ogbomoso South in Oyo State.

Items recovered from the suspect include a large quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, a dagger, a pair of scissors, and the sum of ₦46,500. Police believe the cash may be proceeds from illicit drug sales.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken into custody, where he is currently undergoing further investigation.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on drug-related crimes, the Command urged residents to continue providing credible information to support ongoing operations.

Authorities emphasized their commitment to safeguarding lives and property and maintaining peace across the state.
