Revealed: How a 60-year-old Nigerian was stabbed to death in UK

A 60-year-old Nigerian, Nkiru Chima, was found dead with multiple stab wounds in her apartment located in Romford, United Kingdom.

PUNCH Metro learnt from a statement on the UK Metropolitan Police website on Tuesday that the police received a distress report from the British Transport Police at around 7 p.m. on Sunday, prompting them to visit the apartment.

The statement added that upon getting to the apartment, they discovered the lifeless body of Chima with multiple stab wounds.

The statement read, ā€œPolice are continuing enquiries following the death of a 60-year-old woman in Romford.

ā€œOn Sunday, 27 July, Met Police received a report from the British Transport Police at around 19:00hrs following concerns for the welfare of a woman at an address in Bushy Close, RM1.

ā€œOfficers located a woman at the address with multiple stab wounds; she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. She has since been named as 60-year-old Nkiru Chima from Romford.ā€

Reacting to the incident, Police Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, noted that Chima’s death was suspected to be linked to the death of a 20-year-old man who was killed on the same day.

Yorke stated, ā€œAs our enquiries have progressed, we are confident that Nkiru’s tragic death is connected to the death of a 20-year-old man on the train tracks at Romford station earlier that evening.

ā€œThis man was known to Nkiru and British Transport Police continue to investigate his death.

ā€œI would like to thank the local community for their support with this investigation so far.ā€

Yorke urged members of the public who may have information about the incident to come forward, while stressing that the police would continue to support the victim’s family.

ā€œOur thoughts continue to remain with Nkiru’s family at this difficult time.

ā€œOur officers will be continuing enquiries and we encourage anyone with any information to contact us.

ā€œAnyone with information is asked to call 101 or contact ā€˜X’ @METCC and quote CAD6914/27JUL,ā€ the police chief stated.
