Senator Aniekan Bassey officially joins APC

As the membership strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC) continues to swell in Akwa Ibom State following the official defection of Governor Umo Eno and other former Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Aniekan Bassey, representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District has officially joined the Party.

The event which took place at Ekim Enen on Sunday, June 22, 2025, had in attendance the Chapter Chairman and Chapter Officers, South 2 APC Ward Chairman and executives and members of the Party in the Ward and Local Government Area.

After his official registration with the Party, the APC Ward Chairman of South 2, Mr. Eyo Effiong, issued membership card to the Senator and pronounced his official reception and membership of the Party.

The Chapter Chairman of APC, Hon. Ekong Etim, who directed the proceedings, equally received Sen. Aniekan Bassey to the APC family in Uruan LGA.

In his speech, the Senator thanked the APC leaders and members for receiving him into the Party and promised to work with everyone for the betterment of the Party.

“I want to thank the Chapter Chairman and executives, my Ward Chairman and executives, and the large number of Party faithful and others who have turn out to witness this event. Thank you for the massive show of support and solidarity. I can assure you that I will work with every member of the Party in the Ward and Chapter.”

Also present at the event were the Ward Secretary, Catechist Paul Okon and other Ward Officers. Chapter Officers of the APC including Chapter Deputy Chairman – Comr. Uwemedimo Okon, Chapter Youth Leader – Comr. Benedict Pius, Deputy Women Leader – Mrs Patience Bassey amongst others.

Other political stakeholders who graced the event were former Chairman of Uruan, Hon. Eventus Edem PhD, 2023 House of Assembly Candidate of the Party, Awatt Effiong Awatt, the Leader of Uruan Legislature, Hon. Sunday Bassey, Dr. Mrs Edidiong Okereuke, Elder Joseph Obioku, the APC Media Team led by Godwin Jarkwa, and many others.
