Tinubu assigns 65 ambassadors countries

●A’Ibom’s Ita Enang to South Africa, Mahmood Yakubu to Qatar

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of the 65 ambassadors whose nominations were confirmed last December, assigning them to different countries and multilateral bodies. Among them is Senator Ita Enang of Akwa Ibom State who has been posted to South Africa.

Former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Mahmood Yakubu has been posted to Qatar, while Jimoh Ibrahim, the Ondo south senator, will serve as permanent representative to the United Nations.

In a statement, Friday, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Tinubu directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners.

The confirmations are the latest additions to the envoys whose postings began in January with Kayode Are, former director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), designated to the United States.

In the same month, Ayodele Oke, former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), was posted to France, while Amin Dalhatu, former ambassador to South Korea, was appointed high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
