Boxing fans around the world are in for a superlative boxing experience in 2025, as Anthony Joshua has set his sights on a blockbuster all-British heavyweight boxing fight against Tyson Fury.
Joshua while speaking to journalists after meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, on January 1, expressed his determination to finally face his arch-rival in the ring.
The two boxing giants have been perennial rivals, with two previously scheduled fights falling through.
Joshua, 35, is eager to make a statement in 2025, aiming to not only face Fury but also reclaim the world heavyweight boxing title for a third time.
Reflecting on his 2024 performance, Joshua acknowledged that he could have done more, saying, “2024, when I look back, I believe I could have done more. 2025, I want to do more and will ensure I use every opportunity”.
The Nigerian-British boxer is currently without a title, having lost his belts to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.
Usyk also defeated Fury twice in 2024, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in 25 years.
Despite these setbacks, Joshua remains focused on his goals, stating, “I should have won [against Dubois] but did not. Ups and downs do happen. My life is up and down. So, I get used to the turbulent times and keep riding the wave. I cannot stop there”.
With his sights set on Fury and the world heavyweight title, Joshua is poised for an exciting 2025.
