CountryFirst’s Nwaokobia rams APC, vows nationwide protest August 1
Amid torrents of scathing remarks against President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), by ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, the Convener of CountryFirst Movement, Prof. Chris Nwaokobia Jnr, has said that the APC is growing goose pimples over the rise of the “emergent coalition”, battling to unseat the Tinubu government by 2027.
Last year, Nwokobia presented what Tinubu ought to do to avert the planned nationwide protest fixed for Thursday, August 1, against prevailing hardship in the homeland.
This time around,Nwaokobia has said that he would be presenting to Nigerians the failures of the ruling party that disqualify it from being retained in office after the general polls of 2027.
The Southern Examiner cites Nwaokobia as submitting that the APC has failed Nigerians intoto and was now desperate to hang onto power beyond 2027.
For him, the APC has done a great job of polluting the Nigerian political space with unmitigated corruption, describing this administration as “corrupt, corruptive, and corruptible.
“Corruption runs the show, calls the shots, holds sway, and is the commander-in-hief, under Tinubu’s regime’”, he said.
Nwaokobia cited cases of alleged financial malfeasance under the Tinubu administration to include padding the 2025 budget with nearly N7 trillion, awarding N213 million contract for a single borehole, and N266 million for one streetlight, as well as unbudgeted Coastal Highway project and N39 billion renovation of the Abuja International Conference Centre.
He accused the Tinubu presidency of abandoning due process, elevating nepotism and cronyism over open bidding and accountability, submitting that the administration preferred propaganda to governance, and not realising that “the lifespan of falsehood is short.”
He vowed that the emergent coalition would defeat the APC in 2027, because the party has no credible achievements to campaign with.
