The passing of Elder Effiong Solomon Ekpe has elicited an outpouring of tributes and commendations from prominent figures, who remembered him as a pillar of strength, a beacon of peace, and a shining example of faith and kindness.
Thousands gathered Saturday, September 27, 2025, at his family compound, 25 Eyokan Street, Oron to mourn his untimely exit at a tender age of 60.
The burial ceremony was conducted by the Apostolic Church Nigeria, Nduonofit District, Eyo Abasi Area, Oron Field, with several officiating ministers, including Apostle A. O. Bassey, Pastor Simon Okpo, Pastor M. Udombo, Pastor L. O. Ntia, Pastor Ademo Ojo, Pastor E. O. Efa, Pastor E. Atti, among others.
In a condolence message, Sir (Dr) Asuquo Edet Inuikim, described Elder Ekpe’s life as a testament to the power of purpose, guided by unwavering commitment to godly service, hard work, and love.

While recalling the numerous legacies of Late Elder Ekpe, Chief Inuikim called on his children to emulate him, and asked God to grant his soul a peaceful repose in Abraham’s bosom.
His words, “Elder Effiong Solomon Ekpe’s legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
“His selfless service, humility, and dedication to his faith and community inspired countless individuals. His passing therefore leaves a void that can never be filled.
“But his memories and the impact of his life will continue to inspire and motivate the living, especially members of his family.
“As you navigate this difficult time, I pray that you find solace in the memories you shared with him and the knowledge that his life made a difference in the lives of many.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may his legacy continue to be a source of strength and inspiration to you and your family. Amen!”
Also, Chief Ita Ntekim, the MD and CEO of Miami Escape event Centre, Oron, said that Elder Ekpe lived a life of honesty, discipline, and reverence to God, leaving an indelible mark on those around him.
He maintained that Elder Ekpe’s legacy as a bridge-builder and peacemaker will forever be remembered, embodying the biblical principle, “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” as found in Matthew 5:9.
Sir Ntekim observed that the deceased’s selfless service, humility, and dedication to his faith and community inspired countless individuals, asking God to take him to a place of eternal rest and glory.
Others who joined in consoling the bereaved family included Oron Union, Nsie Group of Villages in Okobo LGA, Sons of AI, Akwa Ibom State Community (AKISCOM-Lagos), among many others.
In his sermon, Pastor Simon Okpo exhorted the church on the theme, “A Gainful Death,” drawn from Philippians 1:5. He emphasised that there is joy in heaven when the righteous passes on to eternal glory.
Citing Psalms 116:15, 2 Timothy 4:6-8, and Proverbs 13:22, Pastor Okpo highlighted that three entities gain when a righteous person dies: God, the deceased individual, and those left behind.
According to Pastor Okpo, God gains when a soul is pure and useful to heaven; the individual also gains while transitioning to eternal glory, while their children or relatives gain from the good name they leave behind.
He stressed the importance of leaving behind a good name, inheritance, connection, conviction, and beliefs for future generations to build upon.
The message was a fitting tribute to the life and legacy of Late Elder Effiong Solomon Ekpe, as mourners came together to celebrate his life and bid him farewell.
Elder Ekpe, was remembered for his contributions to the community and his legacy as a righteous man. He left behind his wife, Deaconess Mary Effiong Ekpe, and his children: Victor, Kingsley, and many others.
