Akpabio hails “peaceful” A’Ibom APC State Congress

As Stephen Ntukekpo retains state chairmanship

President of the Nigerian Senate, Chief Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday, described the Akwa Ibom State congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a gathering radiating peace and unity of purpose as if it were a church communion service.

The event held at the Uyo Township Stadium drew party leaders across all parts of the state.

Senator Akpabio while drawing contrast, said the event was tumultuous in other parts of the country, saying that with Governor Umo Eno, a pastor, at the helm, the atmosphere was serene and harmonious, akin to a holy communion.

Pastor Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, expressed gratitude to God for the peaceful conduct of the APC state congress, saying, “God has been faithful and we haven’t lost any soul in these congresses.”

He noted with pride that party leaders are uniting in large numbers, showcasing the party’s strength. “With over 500 thousand membership, APC is now a strong and resilient party in the state,” he declared, expressing confidence in the party’s future.

Eno also rallied support for the APC’s 2027 presidential ambitions, citing the party’s numerical strength with “about 30 governors in the APC.”

He thanked the Senate President for his trust and pledged not to disappoint the party or its leadership.

Meanwhile, Obong Stephen Leo Ntukekpo has emerged as the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

His emergence followed the adoption of a consensus arrangement by party stakeholders during the election of new state officers.

The motion for consensus was moved by Senator Aniekan Bassey of Uyo Senatorial District and seconded by Hon. Clement Jimbo, member representing Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika Federal Constituency.

Other officers elected include Aniekan Ekpo as Deputy State Chairman, Envoy Nsentip Akpabio as Secretary, Barrister Kemfon Neke as Treasurer, Barrister Victor Akpan as Organising Secretary, Patrick Edeke as Publicity Secretary, Obonganwan Obonodo Uko as State Woman Leader, and Clement Awakessien as State Youth Leader, among others.

Following the inauguration of the new executive, Chairman Ntukekpo thanked the party leadership for their renewed trust and vowed to lead the APC to victory in upcoming electoral cycles.
