Rivers United remain on top table despite defeat

Despite a 1-2 loss to the Shooting Stars of lbadan in the NPFL rescheduled game, Rivers United FC are still on top of the league table with 52 points, two points ahead of the Flying Antelopes of Enugu, who are in second position.

The Shooting Stars are at the sixth place on the table. In their match against the Pride of the Rivers State at lbadan last week, Sodiq lbrahim scored the lead goal in the 34th minute but Wasiu Falolui, in the ensuing 34 minutes scored for parity in the 68th minute.

However, the Shooting Stars persistency paid off when Qamar Adegoke doubled the decisive goal to break the Rivers United unbeaten record.

Meanwhile, at 45 years, Rabiu Ali has said that he will continue to feature for the Kano Pillars in the NPFL competition. Playing for the Sai Musa Gods in the 18th season, and scoring seven goals in his 29 appearances, he said that his desire was to continue to win more trophies for the four-time NPFL chiampions

Said he, “when the time comes , l will retire, but for now, l am still very fit to continue to feature for the club.”
