Moses Itauma took a step closer to winning a world heavyweight title after knocking out American Jeremaine Franklin at the weekend.

Itauma now has 14 wins in 14 bouts and is being tipped to dominate the heavyweight class in few years to come.
He stopped Franklin in the fifth round after earlier knocking the American down in the third round. That was the first time Franklin has ever been knocked out in all his 34 fights.

Franklin now has a 31-3 record. The American had previously lost to Anthony Joshua and Fabio Wardley on points.
Although Itauma is of an Ibibio father and a Slovakian mother, he is boxing as a British citizen.

In all his fights, Itauma has never gone beyond the sixth round, seeing off his opponents as early as possible.

At just only 21, Itauma is now the youngest heavyweight boxer in contention for a world title. Some have suggested that he should face the current undisputed heavyweight champion, Alexander Usyk, but his camp says he should not be rushed into challenging such a formidable opponent.

Usyk himself has not listed Itauma among the three boxers he would face before hanging the gloves in a couple of years.

Itauma traveled to Akwa Ibom State last December and thereafter spoke glowingly about the warmth and welcome he received from the people of the state.
