2027: Eno chairs A’Ibom APC Campaign Council, Akpabio grand patron

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has emerged as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council in the state.

He will also serve as State Coordinator of the campaigns, with the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, as Vice Chairman I.

This is contained in a statement issued on November 2nd and signed by the State Chairman of the APC, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo.

According to the statement, Senate President Godswill Akpabio is Grand Patron of the Campaign Council, while Obong M. A. Afangideh will serve as Patron.

The statement added that Chief Assam Assam will serve as Director-General of the Council; Prince Godwin Ntukudeh as Deputy Director-General, Support Groups; Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem as Deputy Director-General, Operations; and Prince Enobong Uwah as Secretary-General, while Dr. Aniekan Umanah will be in charge of Media and Strategic Communication.

Also on the team are Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo as Vice Chairman II, and Obong Stephen Ntukekpo himself as Vice Chairman III.

Ntukekpo said the list is yet incomplete, implying that more names will be announced soon. He urged the appointees to kick-start stakeholder engagements across their respective jurisdictions.

Four political parties — the APC, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Labour Party (LP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) — are so far the most visible on the electioneering landscape in the state.

Curiously, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has ruled the state since 1999, is virtually invisible in the ongoing political activities. The current state governor, Pastor Umo Eno, was elected on its platform but defected to the APC. His exit is seen by observers as the root cause of the decline of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State.
