●Says she’s legacy of love, wisdom
In a gathering that transcended sorrow, blending grief with gratitude, the commissioner representing Akwa Ibom at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, paid a visit to Rt. Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser to the President of the Senate on Media and Publicity to honour the memory of his late mother, Deaconess Grace Eyiboh.
Paying tribute to the late matriarch, Apostle Nkono said through her wisdom and motherly care, Deaconess Grace Eyiboh had left a lasting imprint on her family and community.
The Commissioner extolled the irreplaceable qualities of maternal love and guidance saying, “Her teaching has shaped you and many lives that have come in contact with her.”
Emphasizing the values that Eyiboh’s mother instilled in the younger generation, the Commissioner noted, “As a legacy, we have seen its testament in your life, as you have never been found wanting at any task assigned to you.”
In his response, Eseme Eyiboh acknowledged the commissioner’s support saying, “I wasn’t surprised when you said you were visiting. Your presence is timely, serving as emotional insurance for those of us who are heartbroken”.
Reflecting on his late mother’s life, Eyiboh expressed the indescribable sense of loss that now marked his days. “My mother is like the sky—ever-present yet just out of reach. I can feel her influence all around me, but I cannot touch it.”
Delving into his late mother’s philosophy on life and peace, values that had influenced not only her family but also the broader community, Eyiboh shared a powerful belief his mother had upheld.
According to him, “The power to rest in peace belongs to God alone. Nowhere in the arena of life should there be an inscription of ‘rest in peace,’ as she emphasized that human beings should focus on living in peace.”
Eyiboh vowed to carry on with his mother’s legacies, honouring her teachings through his commitment to serving others and upholding peace.
“Her name”, he assured, “would live on through actions that echoed her care, wisdom, and strength.”
