Gov Umo Eno loses wife, Patience
The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has lost his wife, Patience, to the cold hands of death.
The sad news to this effect was broken to the public through a Press Release entitled, “Unexpected Sunset”, issued by the state Information Commissioner, Comrade Iniobong Ememobong.
The statement, dated ‘27092024’, disclosed that the former first lady passed away in a hospital [not named] in the presence of her family members, on the previous day, 26th September.
It assured that in spite of the huge personal loss, Pastor Enọ’s commitment to the task of developing the state, remained unwavering.
It added that the governor wished to thank those who have stood by his family in this period.
The first lady’s demise came just three days after the state celebrated its 37th birthday.
Enọ and Patience had been married for more than three decades and their marriage was blessed with children and grandchildren.
The first lady was a seamstress who doubled as a pastor before the husband’s election as governor. As first lady, Patience ran a project called, Golden Initiative for All (GIFA).
She would be remembered partly for publicly fondly calling the husband ‘Golden Boy.’ This may have influenced the tagging of the Enọ administration tenure, the ‘Golden Era’ by his public affairs minders.
Patience is the first Akwa Ibom State First Lady to die in office. She was aged 57.
