A human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has expressed outrage and disappointment over the deplorable feeding conditions at the Presbyterian Senior Science School, Ididep (PSSSI) in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
In a passionate appeal to the state government, the lawyer described the food being served to the students as “despicable” and “unfit for human consumption.”
A disturbing video clip, which has gone viral, shows the unappetizing meal being served to the students.
“I am alarmed by this sheer act of wickedness,” Mr Effiong said.
He added, “If someone told me that PSSSI has deteriorated to this point, I wouldn’t have believed. This looks similar to what prisoners in Nigeria are fed with. Dogs should not be fed with this rubbish that I am seeing.”
He said that students of the school are being fed with a meager tea/bread breakfast, a dismal lunch, and “stone rice that cooks cannot separate the sand” for supper.

Inibehe Effiong called on the Akwa Ibom State Government, particularly the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet; and the Chairman of the State Secondary Education Board, Dr. Ekaette Ebong Okon, to take immediate action to address the situation.
“We cannot allow our children to be dehumanized in this manner,” the lawyer emphasized.
“It is unacceptable. The state government must take responsibility for the welfare and well-being of students in its boarding schools.”
The lawyer also urged the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong, and other government officials from the area to intervene in the matter.
From the video being circulated, the PSSSI, once a prestigious institution, has apparently fallen on hard times, leaving its students to suffer.
Very deplorable situation…haba…was that afang soup or edikiakong…pls this should stop.
This is not different from what is going on at federal technical college ukana offot, our children run away from dormitory in pretence of sickness just to avoid malnutrition. My daughter did same and taught she was joking only to discovered that she has ulcer. I felt so disappointed after spending that much for her to gain admission and paying so much for dormitory fees only to see my healthy child come back home with ulcer. Very sad situation
