Oron Union Women’s Wing celebrates end of year in style

The Oron Union Women’s Wing recently held their End of Year Get-together, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Oron people through traditional delicacies and entertainment.

The event, which took place last Friday, was a resounding success, with attendees and dignitaries alike praising the women’s initiative in promoting their local cuisine.

Chairman of the event, Sir Asuquo Inuikim Obon, commended the women for their efforts, emphasizing that “a people’s culture is their identity anywhere in the world.”

He urged them to continue sustaining the cultural integrity of the Oron people, setting a shining example for future generations.

In their separate speeches, the President of the Women’s Wing, Mma Nkoyo Ibia Ibia, and Secretary, Mma Sherry Patrick Ente, thanked attendees for honouring their invitation, stating that their presence was necessary to give life to the event.

Other dignitaries in attendance included the President-General of Oron Union, Sir Esang Nsa Bassey, represented by his wife, Chief Ita Ntekim, and the President of Oron Union, Uyo Branch, Comrade Eddy Ukosin, who all made generous donations to support the women’s projects.

The ceremony featured excellent service awards to deserving union members and vibrant cultural displays, adding to the event’s festive atmosphere.
