Tributes are still pouring in, as Abak community in Akwa Ibom State is mourning the loss of a matriarch, Madam Eno Effiong Dickson, mother of renowned academic, Dr. Monday E. Dickson of Akwa Ibom State University, Obio Akpa Campus.
Madam Dickson passed away at the ripe age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of love, commitment, and service to her family and community.
In a heartfelt letter of condolence, His Royal Highness, Obong Ifiok Umanah, Mkpokporo VII, Abaak of Abak and village head, described the late Madam Dickson as a “distinguished personality renowned for her love and commitment to her community and family.”
“Her passing is a great loss, not only to your family but to our entire community,” Obong Umanah wrote, adding, “I pray that you and your family will take solace in the memories of her productive life, and may her eternal repose be granted unto her.”
Dr. Dickson, while acknowledging the condolences, described his mother as “a pillar of strength and wisdom” who instilled in him the values of hard work, compassion, and community service.
“My mother was a selfless and caring person who dedicated her life to the well-being of others,” Dr. Dickson said. “Her legacy will continue to inspire me and our entire family.”
Meanwhile, the family has announced that the obsequies will climax with a funeral ceremony conducted by Methodist Church Nigeria, Ubodung Village, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10 a.m.
