President Bola Tinubu has bestowed the prestigious honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Chief Justice of the Federation, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
The announcement was made by President Tinubu during his address to the nation as part of the independence anniversary celebrations.
The GCON title is one of the highest national honours, recognizing individuals for their outstanding service and contributions to the country.
In his remarks, President Tinubu acknowledged the dedication and pivotal roles played by Senate President Akpabio and Chief Justice Kekere-Ekun in the governance and judiciary of Nigeria.
“The Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Federation have been conferred with the honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON),” the President stated.
Additionally, the President announced that the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, have been awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR).
Furthermore, Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House, was awarded the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) as part of the national honours.
These prestigious awards serve to recognize the outstanding contributions and service of these key political and judicial leaders in shaping the course of Nigeria’s development and upholding the rule of law.
