SpaceX founder Elon Musk becomes world’s first trillionaire
Elon Musk, SpaceX founder and CEO of Space, Elon Musk, has become the first person in history to reach a net worth of $1 trillion. This historic milestone follows the blockbuster public debut of his aerospace company.
According to CNN, SpaceX priced its initial public offering (IPO) at $135 per share, pushing Musk’s estimated fortune past the $1 trillion threshold.
Trading under the ticker symbol “SPCX” on the Nasdaq, the company’s stock climbed to $165 shortly after markets opened this Friday. This represents a 22% increase over the IPO price, propelling SpaceX to a total market valuation exceeding $2 trillion.
Prior to the listing, Musk’s net worth was estimated at $813 billion—already more than double the fortune of the world’s second-richest person, Google co-founder Larry Page, who is valued at approximately $288 billion according to Forbes. Musk’s wealth now exceeds the combined net worth of the next three individuals on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index: Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Oracle founder Larry Ellison.
At its current valuation, SpaceX stands as the sixth-largest publicly traded company in the United States, ranking behind only Nvidia, Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon.
Beyond its core aerospace business, SpaceX acts as the parent company to Starlink, its profitable and rapidly expanding satellite internet service, and xAI, the artificial intelligence company behind the Grok chatbot.
