Letters to the editor: Repair internal road in Uyo metropolis

I always look disgusted whenever I go round Uyo and beyond to see that internal roads in the metropolis are nothing to write home about.

Some of these roads are in such a bad and dilapidated condition that does not depict that the state government in actually in existence.

Such roads include Nsentip, Ukana Offot, Nkemba, Ikot Akpan Abia/Ikot Iko, Jubilee by NEPA Line, Umoren and Port Harcourt among others.

And as a result of how bad these roads are, they lack that inter-connectivity in the metropolis. It always poses problem to navigate from one road to another.

I know the government is a listening one and they must have been waiting for the dry season so as to carry out the repairs of these mentioned roads and others.

Now that the dry season is at hand, the government, I sincerely believe, will beam its searchlight on these roads and repair them to provide good access to both pedestrians and motorists to use before the next rainy season sets in.

Failure on the part of government to handle these road rehabilitation projects and allow rains to set in again would be considered as a total negligence of satisfying the yearnings of the people of the state.

On the other hand, if these roads are properly reconstructed, the beauty of the metropolis would return and inter-connectivity would be made simple and government would be eulogised for doing well.

It is therefore my sincere call on the state government to wake up from its slumber to give internal roads construction or repairs priority attention considering the fact that good road network electricity, shelter and water are the only facilities the citizenry want from any good government.
