The Executive Chairman of Comfort 95.1 FM, Senator Effiong Bob, and his wife, Comfort, have commended and celebrated the staff of the station for emerging as the Best Radio Station in South-South Nigeria.
The couple specially recognized the Head of Programmes and Guinness World Record holder, Mr. George Iniabasi Essien (aka Mighty George), who also emerged as the Best Sportscaster in Nigeria at the 7th Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards (NBMA) 2026, held last week in Lagos.
Senator Bob congratulated the station for attaining this phenomenal feat, noting that they triumphed in a competitive field of more than 90 radio stations across the six South-South states: Rivers, Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom. He attributed the station’s success to strong teamwork driven by excellence, passion, creativity, integrity, and top-notch professionalism—values deeply embedded in the station’s culture.
Also speaking, Mrs. Comfort Effiong Bob credited God Almighty for endowing the staff with the wisdom and enablement to drive the vision of the media firm to enviable heights, while commending the entire team for a job well done.
Welcoming the chairman, his wife, and other dignitaries, the management team, led by broadcast media manager and member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mr. Samuel Enobong Akpan, stated that Comfort FM has been deliberate in its programming and pursuit of excellence.
He added that this commitment yielded the three major awards won at the 7th NBMA.
A major highlight of the event was the official presentation of the award plaques to the chairman and his wife by Mr. Akpan and Mighty George, amidst joyous celebrations.
The milestone event was graced by eminent personalities, including Hon. Emmanuel Obot and key clients such as Pastor Inim Junior and Mr. Nkeruwem Onung.
Also in attendance were the management team, presenters, and analysts of the station’s flagship programmes, Issues in the News, The Gladiators, and Sports.

To cap off the celebration, the founding couple and other dignitaries appreciated the staff with generous cash donations.
