The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, was honoured with a special thanksgiving and prayers during the 17th Diocesan Women Conference of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, held on Sunday, August 24, 2026.
The conference took place at St. Mark’s Church, Ayakoro/Onuegbum Archdeaconry, in the Diocese of Ogbia, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger Delta, Bayelsa State.
Women of the Anglican Communion from across the Diocese converged for days of worship, fellowship, reflection and spiritual renewal.
A major highlight of the event was a thanksgiving service organised by the Women’s Ministry in honour of Chief Ogbuku and his family to mark his birthday.
The congregation offered prayers of thanksgiving to God for his life, leadership and service. They also sought divine guidance, wisdom, strength and continued protection for him and his family.
The thanksgiving provided an opportunity for the church community to acknowledge Chief Ogbuku’s contributions to the development of the Niger Delta and to express appreciation for his service to the people of the region.
In his remarks, Chief Ogbuku expressed gratitude to the church, the Diocesan Women’s Ministry, the clergy and the entire congregation for the warm reception, prayers and goodwill extended to him and his family.
The women’s conference ended with renewed calls for unity, service and commitment to the growth of both the church and communities across the Niger Delta.
