The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is set to host a stakeholders’ summit to develop fresh strategies for the economic growth and development of the Niger Delta Region, according to Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director of NDDC.
In a statement released by Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs, Dr. Ogbuku emphasized the need for tailored plans that align with the region’s specific challenges and opportunities.
He stressed the importance of active participation from the people in the development process, highlighting the significance of participatory democracy in ensuring that policies and programmes are well understood by both leadership and followers.
The summit, scheduled for July 10 to 13, 2024, will build on the Commission’s recent efforts to improve the lives of the people in the Niger Delta region.
The statement quoted Dr Ogbuku as saying, “President Tinubu has directed the NDDC to complete and commission signature projects, and the Commission has already inaugurated five flagship projects across the region, including roads, bridges, and electricity facilities.”
Thompson-Wakama however stressed the summit’s objective strategic plans for the region’s economic growth and development.
